Sale of diplomatic properties in Nigeria, Zambia by previous administration cancelled - Ablakwa

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced the cancellation of two controversial transactions. These transactions were initiated by the previous Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration. They involved selling Ghanaian diplomatic properties in Nigeria and Zambia.

Mr. Ablakwa shared this news on his X account on March 29. He emphasized that President John Dramani Mahama fully supports this decision.

In Parliament, he stated, "We have cancelled two transactions to sell Ghanaian diplomatic properties." He also mentioned efforts to recover an illegal part-payment from one transaction. Those responsible for the deal are currently evading capture but will be held accountable.

“We mean it when we say no diplomatic property belonging to Ghana will be sold under our watch,” he asserted.

Mr. Ablakwa warned that no diplomatic property would be available for sale. This applies both in Ghana and at its 71 diplomatic missions abroad.

He affirmed that principles guiding their decisions include Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) and a strict opposition to State Capture. The national interest will remain a priority in their actions.
