The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, announced the One Million Coders Programme. So far, there have been 91,847 applications.
He spoke about the initiative during its launch in Accra on April 16. George highlighted Ghanaians' enthusiasm for this program. It aims to equip young people with essential digital skills.
George said they initially planned a pilot with 260 students. However, within four hours of announcing it, they received over 4,000 applications. They decided to increase the number of participants to 520.
As of this morning, the total number of applications reached 91,847. This shows the visionary nature of President Mahama's plan for Ghana's digital ecosystem.
The One Million Coders Programme is designed to train Ghanaians in coding and artificial intelligence. It aims to position Ghana as a leader in the global digital economy. The strong response reflects Ghanaians' eagerness for opportunities in technology.
