Sam George announces special data bundles and new measures to improve network quality

The Minister of Communications, Sam George Nartey, announced a new agreement. All three mobile network operators will offer special data bundles. These bundles will be available on five national holidays: Independence Day, May Day, Republic Day, Founders Day, and Farmers Day.

During the first-quarter press briefing, he confirmed a successful test run for Independence Day data bundles. He expressed excitement for the upcoming May Day offering to celebrate Ghana's workers.

The Minister also acknowledged complaints about service quality from mobile network operators. He noted that many users have raised concerns about their experiences.

To address these issues, he introduced a new policy for technology neutrality. He secured additional spectrum for MTN Ghana to improve service quality. The National Communications Authority (NCA) was also directed to provide more spectrum to Telecel Ghana.

These actions aim to give operators the resources needed to enhance their services and network quality. “We have acted quickly to ensure this vision becomes a reality,” he stated.

Sam George issued a warning regarding service standards. Within three months of assigning additional spectrum, the NCA will enforce strict quality standards. “Failure to improve service quality will lead to substantial fines,” he cautioned.

He assured the public of his commitment alongside the regulator. Both are dedicated to ensuring Ghanaians receive excellent customer service and experience. “We will ensure they get the best possible service,” he concluded.
