Sam George authorises dismissal of about 100 Ghana Post staff over irregular recruitment

Communications Minister Sam George has dismissed nearly 100 staff from Ghana Post Limited. He cited an irregular recruitment process as the reason for this action.

The affected employees were hired after the December 7, 2024 election. The minister claims proper procedures were not followed during their hiring.

Sam George expressed his commitment to clearing the ministry of improperly recruited individuals. He stated he cannot work with staff whose employment is tainted by irregularities.

He explained that inheriting a ministry with 3,117 staff and 600 recent hires creates a mess. "The rationalisation is ongoing," he told the press on Tuesday.

He added, "Today, I have authorised the termination of almost 100 at Ghana Post."

The minister noted that irregular recruitment led to inefficiencies within the department.

George emphasized his mission to clean up the ministry for better efficiency.

The government is reversing many post-election public sector hires deemed improper. They claim these appointments did not follow established procedures in various sectors.
