Sam George called out over the rising cost of data in Ghana

Concerns are rising among heavy internet users in Ghana. This comes 100 days after President John Dramani Mahama took office.

Communications Minister Sam Nartey George assured Ghanaians that data would become cheaper. He formed an interministerial committee early in his term to address this issue.

The committee's goal is to create a plan for affordable data. The Communications Ministry announced the committee's formation on social media. It will assess current pricing models and make recommendations.

The committee has 14 working days to develop a roadmap. This roadmap aims to reduce data costs and improve accessibility for all citizens.

Members of the committee include representatives from various ministries and organizations. These include the Ministry of Finance, Energy, NCA, PURC, and others.

Inaugurated on February 14, the committee was expected to report back within two weeks. However, there has been no noticeable change in data prices since then.

Ghanaian internet users continue to face high data costs. Questions remain about what actions Sam George has taken regarding these prices. Users are also curious about any holiday data bonuses or findings from the pricing committee he established.
