Sam George demands retraction and apology from NPP activist over Lexus gift allegations

Samuel Nartey George is the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation. He is demanding a retraction and apology from NPP activist P.K. Sarpong. This follows allegations that he received a Lexus vehicle.

Sarpong claimed on Facebook that the minister was using an unregistered Lexus. He described it as a “top of the range” vehicle, suggesting it was a gift. Sarpong stated this violated President Mahama’s Code of Conduct for government appointees.

In response, Sam George's legal team denied these claims. They called the allegations “defamatory and injurious.” The team sent a letter on May 20 demanding Sarpong remove his post.

The letter also requested a public retraction and apology within seven days. If not, they warned of potential defamation lawsuits. It stated that Sarpong knew his claims were false but published them anyway.

Sam George clarified that he purchased the 2024 Lexus LX600 through a loan from the National Investment Bank. He emphasized that as an MP, he is entitled to a car loan.

In a post on X, he addressed Sarpong directly. He said it was dishonest to claim his purchased vehicle was a gift from anyone.

George expressed his commitment to transparency as a public officer. He urged Sarpong to apologize or face legal consequences for his statements.

He concluded with strong words about holding Sarpong accountable for his actions.
