The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has launched a fierce crackdown on unauthorized radio stations.
Acting on ministerial orders, the National Communications Authority (NCA) has moved to shut down six stations, including Fire Group of Companies in Sunyani and Okyerema Radio in Bibiani, for operating without valid frequency licenses.
These entities failed to renew their authorizations or fulfill legal obligations, making their broadcasts illegal under the Electronic Communications Act (Act 775).
The NCA has vowed to cut off all unauthorized transmissions as part of strict enforcement measures.
The Ministry has also warned that more closures could follow, urging all stations to comply with licensing regulations as it continues a broader review of frequency authorizations.
