Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, criticized the Parliamentary Appointments Committee. He accused them of focusing on the wrong issues during his vetting process.
George spent over five hours answering questions from the committee. He felt many questions were unrelated to his qualifications or plans for the role.
The interrogation was led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin. George noted that it focused on his past political remarks instead of his expertise in communications and digital technology.
In an interview with Channel One TV, he expressed disappointment with their questioning approach.
He stated, “A man must stand by what he believes in.” He added that it was unfortunate for the committee to settle scores during this process.
George believed Afenyo-Markin could have asked more relevant questions about the sector. He lamented that a key opportunity to discuss his vision and knowledge was missed due to unrelated personal issues.
