Sam George uncovers alleged revenue diversion at NITA

Minister Samuel Nartey George has made serious allegations against the previous Akufo-Addo administration. He claims they signed a questionable contract that diverts revenue from the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) to a private company.

He expressed his dismay over this arrangement. According to him, it deprives NITA of its rightful income while benefiting a third-party vendor significantly.

“NITA has a contract with a third-party vendor,” he stated. “I have summoned that vendor to appear before me tomorrow. I do not understand how all revenue coming to NITA is being redirected.”

George revealed he was asked to approve nearly four million Ghana Cedis for services using NITA’s infrastructure. However, he refused to authorize the payment and referred the matter to the Attorney General.

“The payment for services was almost four million Ghana Cedis,” he said. “I have refused to sign it and have referred it to the Attorney General.”

The minister emphasized he would not approve any payments until he fully understands the contract. He questioned why NITA is burdened with debt while private entities profit from its infrastructure.

“I will not authorize such payments until I understand why NITA receives nothing,” he added. “A private sector player is using NITA’s infrastructure and earning almost four million Ghana Cedis, while all the debt sits on NITA’s books.”

Samuel Nartey George criticized the previous administration harshly. He described the situation as a clear example of state capture. He promised to provide Parliament with a detailed briefing on these alleged irregularities within the ministry.

“The ministry is a true definition of state capture,” he concluded. “I will come to Parliament and brief them extensively on the issues.”
