Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu addressed the dollar gift controversy. This gift was given by Acting Gold Board CEO Sammy Gyamfi to Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa.
On May 14, he spoke on Citi Eyewitness News. He stated that disciplinary measures require a specific rule breach in the Code of Conduct. “We must show that a specific part of the Code has been breached,” he explained.
Kwakye Ofosu clarified there is no clause against giving money to someone. “There is no specific provision in the Code about giving gifts,” he said. He noted that Mr. Gyamfi was seen giving money to the lady involved.
He questioned if giving money constitutes a breach of conduct. “The Code does not mention anything like that,” he added.
Even if it were a breach, the Code outlines sanctions for violations. “Assuming it was a breach, the Code specifies sanctions,” he stated. These include a public apology and caution from the presidency.
Both actions have already been taken, according to the Presidency. They believe these steps are enough to resolve the issue. Therefore, the government considers this matter closed.
