Dr. Tanko Rashid Computer is the CEO of GIFEC. He stated that the presidency has resolved the controversy over Sammy Gyamfi’s dollar gift incident.
Tanko Computer believes that the issue should be considered closed. He spoke on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, explaining that Gyamfi acted out of generosity. He described Gyamfi as a cheerful giver who wanted to help someone in need.
Tanko emphasized gratitude towards the presidency for restoring order in this matter. He urged everyone to let it die down.
His comments followed a statement from Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesperson. Ofosu confirmed that Sammy Gyamfi received a caution but no further action would be taken regarding the dollar gift incident.
The presidency accepted Gyamfi's public apology and decided to close the case with a warning. During a press briefing at Jubilee House, Ofosu explained that President Mahama was briefed about the situation after returning from abroad.
He noted that Gyamfi expressed regret during his meeting with the Chief of Staff. The presidency acknowledged this apology and deemed it sufficient.
Ofosu mentioned that President Mahama had previously launched a Code of Conduct emphasizing public apologies for breaches. The Chief of Staff cautioned Gyamfi and reminded him to meet public expectations.
The presidency believes no further action is necessary beyond this caution and apology. They are committed to maintaining high standards in governance and ensuring such incidents do not happen again.
