Ernest Owusu Bempah, a Deputy Director of Communications for the NPP, defended Sammy Gyamfi. He stated that Gyamfi committed no crime by gifting dollars to Nana Agradaa.
Sammy Gyamfi faced criticism after a video showed him giving large sums of money to Patricia Asiedua, known as Nana Agradaa.
Owusu Bempah claimed the backlash against Gyamfi is unwarranted. He argued that no one has the moral right to attack him since he hasn't stolen money.
Speaking on NET 2 TV, he said, “This noise about Sammy Gyamfi gifting dollars is dead on arrival.” He added that anyone with evidence of theft should report it to the Special Prosecutor.
He emphasized that young people should be supported when they succeed. He noted that Gyamfi has apologized for his actions and described them as youthful exuberance.
Meanwhile, Sammy Gyamfi publicly apologized for his indiscretion. He expressed regret over the situation and clarified his intentions.
Gyamfi explained that gifting dollars was part of his custom of helping those in need. He did not expect this act of kindness to become public knowledge.
He stated, “I sincerely thought I was doing this in private.”
