The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, of living extravagantly. They claim he drives a 2025 Range Rover Autobiography worth $350,000.
Henry Nana Boakye from the NPP stated that Gyamfi flaunts wealth and uses US dollars daily instead of the Ghanaian cedi. He criticized Gyamfi for this behavior just 120 days into his government role.
At a press conference on May 13, 2025, Boakye said Gyamfi's actions are unethical. He argued that it betrays public trust to enjoy such benefits while disregarding the local currency.
The NPP minority in parliament revealed Gyamfi's salary and benefits. They noted he earns GH¢125,000 monthly with a yearly increase of 15%. His compensation exceeds that of a Member of Parliament.
Gyamfi’s privileges as CEO include:
- An annual salary of GH¢1.5 million.
- A clothing allowance equal to 15% of his annual salary.
- Two personal security officers or cash equivalent.
- One gardener or cash equivalent.
- Full medical coverage for himself, his spouse, and five children under 22 years old.
- Two company cars with maintenance and insurance.
- Monthly fuel allocation of 1,500 liters for each vehicle.
- Thirty paid vacation days annually.
- Up to $10,000 for travel airfare annually with a per diem of $2,000 per day for seven days.
- Business class tickets and $2,000 per day for official travel.
- Personal accident and life insurance worth five times his annual salary.
Gyamfi faced scrutiny after a video showed him giving large sums to Patricia Asiedua (Nana Agradaa). In the viral video on social media platform X, he was seen counting US dollars next to his white Range Rover.
Nana Agradaa insisted he give her all the money instead of just some. She then walked away flaunting the cash while saying she had taken dollars from him.
