Sammy Gyamfi’s apology was an insult – NPP Legal team member fires back

Ishaq Ibrahim, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party’s Legal Directorate, criticized Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod). His criticism followed Gyamfi's apology after a video surfaced. In this video, Gyamfi hands U.S. dollars to Evangelist Nana Agradaa.

Ibrahim spoke on Asaase Radio’s The Forum. He questioned the sincerity of Gyamfi’s apology. This apology was only directed at members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). “Look at his apology; it was an insult,” he said.

He condemned Gyamfi’s actions in the video as morally inappropriate. “What Sammy Gyamfi did was inappropriate — it is morally wrong,” he stated. He emphasized that it doesn’t matter how much money was involved.

Ibrahim raised concerns about public perception and ethics. He noted that Gyamfi's role at Goldbod makes this situation worse. “Now that he is in charge of Goldbod and is seen giving out dollars, what would people say?” he asked.

He called for accountability from state institutions. Ibrahim urged them to investigate the source of the money in the video. “At least let the state institutions investigate for us to find out how many such monies he has,” he said.

He also criticized the Presidency's response to this issue. He felt that merely cautioning Gyamfi was not enough. “To just leave it and say he has been cautioned... then the President is acting unethically,” he argued.
