Sammy Gyamfi’s right to privacy was breached – Martin Kpebu on dollar gift saga

Private lawyer Martin Kpebu is defending Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board. He faces controversy over gifting dollars to a preacher.

Kpebu claims Gyamfi's right to privacy was violated. He noted that Gyamfi counted money in his car, not in public. Therefore, he should not have been recorded.

Kpebu described this as a breach of constitutional privacy rights. Article 18 of the Constitution protects everyone's privacy. He questioned why someone would record Gyamfi counting money in his car.

He pointed out that if Gyamfi wanted to be public, he could have done so. He had taken pictures with Agradaa before going into his car. Agradaa was present to receive the money, which shows it wasn't reckless behavior.

In an interview on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem, Kpebu argued that the situation is exaggerated. He believes people are trying to compare it to Cecilia Dapaah’s case unfairly.

Kpebu stated there are significant differences between the two cases and urged people to stop comparing them. He criticized how some issues are being handled by the government but said this one is minor.

He expressed concern about creating unnecessary drama from a small issue. Kpebu suggested that the NPP should remain calm and act responsibly as an opposition party.

The controversy began after a video showed Gyamfi giving money to Nana Agradaa at an event. Following public backlash, Gyamfi apologized and was summoned by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah.

It remains unclear if any action will be taken against him by the President.
