Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced updates to Ghana’s passport system. These changes aim to make the process more convenient for citizens.
On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Mr. Ablakwa shared details about the new chip-embedded passports. This update aligns with international standards and includes major service improvements.
One significant change is that passport delivery will now be managed by Ghana Post. Applicants will not incur any additional costs for this service.
You can collect your passport from a nearby Ghana Post office, even if you don’t have a personal address.
Additionally, a 24-hour passport operations and delivery service will soon be available. This will speed up the process and create jobs across the country.
Best of all, passport application fees have been reduced despite these upgrades.
A public-private partnership is funding these reforms without adding financial pressure on Ghanaians.
