The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly has prosecuted eight sanitation offenders. They were arrested for dumping refuse in Kasoa's Central Business District. This practice worsens the area's poor sanitation conditions.
An ad-hoc task force established by the Assembly made the arrests. The task force patrols the municipality to monitor and catch offenders. The culprits were taken to the Kasoa-Ofaakor circuit court. They received fines of up to GHC1,000.
Kasoa MCE Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini spoke about the arrests. He said, “These persons carry their refuse from Akweley and dump it here.” This contributes significantly to the sanitation crisis.
Following these prosecutions, the assembly plans to continue its campaign. They will establish a standing task force with members from all security agencies.
Kasoa District Police Commander ASP Emmanuel Amponsah is part of this task force. He expressed the police’s readiness to help apprehend offenders.
