Savannah Police arrest suspect in Pwalugu robbery and murder case

The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in a robbery and murder case. This incident occurred in Pwalugu, Upper East Region.

Savannah Regional Police Commander COP Samuel Alfred Winful confirmed the arrest. The suspect, Nuhu Mumuni, was captured on April 8, 2025. He was found at his hideout in Mankarigu within the Savannah Region. The Regional Operations team made the arrest.

Nuhu Mumuni had been on the Upper East Regional Police’s wanted list before his capture. His arrest is a significant breakthrough for the investigation. The robbery and murder shocked the Pwalugu community and nearby areas.

Police reports indicate that Mumuni was involved in the fatal shooting of Benjamin Apuri. Apuri was a mobile money vendor who was killed on March 3, 2025. The attackers stole an undisclosed amount of money during the robbery.

This arrest is part of ongoing police efforts to address violent crimes. Authorities believe capturing Mumuni will help identify other suspects involved in this incident. Currently, he is in custody with the Savannah Regional Police Command.

Mumuni is expected to be transferred to the Upper East Regional Police Command soon. He will assist with further investigations and face prosecution for his crimes.
