More than 30 students of Sawla Senior High School in the Savannah Region have been indefinitely suspended, with most of them being female.
The students were accused of possessing mobile phones and engaging in immoral activities, violating Ghana Education Service (GES) regulations.
A seven-member investigative committee found them guilty, prompting their suspension. However, some parents are protesting the decision, arguing they were not officially informed.
One frustrated parent questioned why they had to learn about their child's suspension informally, while another lamented not knowing her daughter’s whereabouts.
The controversy adds to the school’s challenges, including past reports of misconduct and its poor 2022 WASSCE performance, which placed the institution among the lowest-ranked in the country.
