School Feeding Caterers to petition Asantehene, Chief Imam over contract termination

Caterers in the Ghana School Feeding Programme plan to petition the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. They seek his help after their contracts were terminated by the Mahama administration.

All contracts for caterers ended on May 2, 2025. There has been no official explanation for this decision. The caterers have been promised payment for outstanding arrears, but no timeline has been given.

Madam Margaret Larbi is the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the National School Feeding Caterers Association. She spoke on Eyewitness News with Sammi Wiafe about their situation.

She mentioned that they are reaching out to traditional and religious leaders for support. “Our President said we have petitions to be sent,” she stated.

They aim to contact influential figures like the National Chief Imam, Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu. “We’re trying to get him to plead on our behalf,” she added.

On Friday, May 9, they plan to send petitions to other important individuals in the country. Their goal is to gain support and speak on their behalf.
