School Feeding reform necessary to stop abuse – Ibrahim Adjei

Ibrahim Adjei, a former Assistant Secretary under President Nana Akufo-Addo, supports the government's decision to restructure the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).

On May 5, he spoke on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily. He endorsed the ongoing reforms after all caterers' contracts were terminated nationwide.

The GSFP announced on May 2, 2025, that it ended contracts for all existing caterers immediately. The Secretariat stated that no caterer should provide meals for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic year. However, it assured affected caterers that outstanding payments from the second term would be settled.

Adjei highlighted key concerns that led to this restructuring. He noted that some school authorities misused the program, creating loopholes. This misuse undermined the initiative's intended purpose.

He expressed full support for the restructuring efforts. “The NPP did it to address how people go outside of the law,” he said. He emphasized that while laws exist, some individuals act against them for personal gain.
