Search for a new Pope: President Mahama ‘campaigns’ for Cardinal Turkson

President John Dramani Mahama supports Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson as the next Pope.

He believes the 76-year-old Turkson would be a good leader for the Church. This follows the death of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis was buried on Saturday. He led the Catholic Church for 12 years.

Francis succeeded Pope Benedict XVI, who resigned in 2013.

The Vatican announced that Francis died on April 21, 2025. He suffered a stroke and then fell into a coma before his death.
