Security consultant commends law enforcement over crackdown on streetism in Accra

Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has praised the Ghana Police Service. He also commended the Ghana Immigration Service for their recent efforts against streetism in Accra. He believes these actions are vital for public safety and order on major roads.

Mr. Kumadoe explained that streetism involves vulnerable individuals living on the streets. While it may seem like a social issue, it poses serious security concerns. He stated, “Streetism can be abhorrent and disastrous sometimes.” It can also become a platform for various criminal activities.

Residents have long been concerned about street children and hawkers in Accra. They highlight the risks to pedestrians and motorists, especially during peak hours. Mr. Kumadoe noted that such activities lead to frequent public safety breaches.

He urged the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities. “Let’s all be watchful and report similar actions,” he advised.

His comments follow recent operations by security agencies. These operations aimed to remove street dwellers and unauthorized vendors from key intersections in the capital. Mr. Kumadoe sees this clean-up as a positive step toward restoring law and order in public spaces.
