Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, a Governance Specialist and Security Strategist, has demanded an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred at the home of Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, the Interior Minister-designate.
The viral video shows a uniformed police officer firing a gun in the air to celebrate Muntaka’s nomination.
Dr. Boakye-Danquah questioned whether the officer followed proper protocols and raised concerns about public safety.
In a social media post, he asked the Ghana Police Service to clarify how police officers account for bullets and whether such actions put the public at risk. He also expressed concern for Muntaka’s safety, suggesting that the officer’s actions could have had deadly consequences.
Boakye-Danquah recommended that Muntaka request the withdrawal of the officer from his security detail and called for a thorough investigation into the incident, urging disciplinary action if necessary.
The Ghana Police Service has not yet commented on the matter.
