Serve with discipline, humility and patience - Rev Fr Mattew Kumi enjoins politicians

Rev Fr Matthew Kumi, the Parish Priest of Hwediem Catholic Church, spoke on political service. He urged African politicians, especially in Ghana, to serve with discipline and humility.

He believes these values lead to success. In contrast, negative traits will result in failure.

Fr Kumi addressed attendees at a Thanksgiving mass for Samuel Assabil Donkor. Donkor is the newly inducted District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi South. He reminded politicians they are elected to serve others.

In an interview with JoyNews after the mass, Fr Kumi emphasized humility and respect. He stated that public office holders must be committed and God-fearing.

He highlighted Jesus Christ as a symbol of peace. He encouraged followers to promote peace and unity while serving their communities.

Fr Kumi urged DCE Donkor to be a beacon of hope in the district. He called for improvements in residents' living conditions.

DCE Donkor emphasized collaboration between the church and local governance authorities. He encouraged church involvement in government policies and programs.

He also requested support from residents for upcoming initiatives. This includes the monthly sanitation exercise by the Ministry of Local Government.

Donkor promised strong partnerships with religious groups in Asutifi South. He aims for a collective approach to development.

The DCE committed to engaging all contenders from the selection process. He stated he would consult key stakeholders in the district.
