Set realistic KPIs for assembly members – Ofosu Ampofo to MMDCEs

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the Policy Adviser for Political Affairs at the Vice President's Office, spoke to MMDCEs. He urged them to set realistic Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assembly members. This will help assess their work and ensure accountability.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo addressed 33 Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Eastern Region. He emphasized that this approach would promote local development. The government has provided enough funds for assembly members' monthly allowances.

He encouraged MMDCEs to create a supportive environment for assembly members. They should also adhere to local governance laws. Mr. Ofosu Ampofo asked them to reflect President John Dramani Mahama's humility and leadership qualities.

“Being appointed by the president means you must reflect his image,” he said. He advised them to study the Local Government Act thoroughly.

Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey also spoke at the meeting. She urged MMDCEs to engage stakeholders in finding sustainable funding sources. This will help boost local revenue and ensure transparency in resource use.

“As you assume office, public expectations are high,” she noted. Citizens want better sanitation, education, healthcare, job creation, and effective governance. Your leadership will impact lives directly, so strategic thinking is essential.
