Seven-member committee submits report on the death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun

A 7-member committee investigated the death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun. They submitted their final report to Minister for Sport and Recreation, Kofi Adams, on May 16, 2025.

The committee was chaired by Ambassador Major (RTD) Amarkai Amarteifio. It was inaugurated on April 8, 2025, and completed its work within 21 days.

Hon. Kofi Adams praised the committee for their dedication and commitment. He stated that the Ministry will review the report and its recommendations. The goal is to help the boxing industry and prevent future incidents.

He also mentioned that they will implement recommendations for reform in boxing and other sports.

Ambassador Major RTD Amarkai Amarteifio expressed hope that the report would lead to significant reforms in the sport. He thanked his committee members for their hard work. He also acknowledged health workers at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for their contributions to the report.
