Former Deputy Finance Minister and Nhyiaeso MP, Dr. Stephen Amoah, has questioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government's claims of economic improvement. This skepticism comes just four months into their tenure.
Speaking on Wontumi Radio's morning show, Dr. Amoah expressed doubt about the NDC's ability to make significant progress so quickly. He suggested that any perceived gains likely stem from policies left by the previous administration.
“How could the NDC have improved the economy within four months?” he asked. He urged the government to showcase independent factors that contributed to economic growth in early 2024.
Dr. Amoah criticized the government for minimal economic spending. He argued that insufficient public expenditure undermines claims of rapid recovery or transformation.
He also pointed out that the NDC seems focused on forming boards instead of providing a clear economic direction. “The government’s focus on commissioning boards shows a lack of preparedness,” he said.
