The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) has issued a three-month ultimatum. They want the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to fix urgent issues at Tafo Government Hospital.
This follows a recent JoyNews report highlighting serious health and infrastructure problems. The hospital faces overcrowding, leaving many patients without proper medical care.
Dr. Wilfred Baah, HeFRA's Registrar, visited the hospital with the Ashanti Regional Health Director. He acknowledged the poor conditions that hinder effective healthcare delivery.
The JoyNews report showed that patients often wait long hours for care. The healthcare system is overstretched and lacks enough space and resources.
Overcrowded wards and too few beds have created a dangerous backlog of patients. Some have even been turned away due to a lack of available beds.
HeFRA has called on GHS to act quickly on these issues. They want immediate measures to ease congestion and reduce patient backlogs.
