Sickle Gene advocate honoured at 2025 Ghana Executive Awards

Victoria Awo Twumasi, a well-known healthcare advocate, has received the Inspirational Leadership Award of the Year. This award was presented at the first Ghana Executive Awards in 2025.

Twumasi is the founder of the Ghana Foundation for Sickle Cell Action. She is recognized for her leadership in promoting early intervention for Sickle Cell Disease. She also mentors women and youth in health and socio-economic initiatives.

The award highlights her dedication to patient advocacy for those with Sickle Cell Disease. It also acknowledges her respect as an advocate for better healthcare practices in Ghana.

The event took place at Labadi Beach Hotel, a five-star venue in Ghana. Globe Productions organized this prestigious initiative to celebrate outstanding achievements across various industries.

In an interview, Twumasi expressed gratitude to God for His guidance. She thanked her late mentor, Prof Kwaku Ohene-Frempong, and fellow advocacy groups.

She emphasized their collective efforts toward improving healthcare for individuals with Sickle Cell Disease. The trophy represents renewed motivation to work harder for a brighter future.

“I am extremely excited about this win,” she said. “I dedicate this award to everyone in the Sickle Cell community.”

Twumasi acknowledged her team and supportive board members of the Ghana Foundation for Sickle Gene Action. She expressed appreciation for all partners who contribute positively to their mission.
