The Alexander Mawusi Boadi Committee investigated a clash at Sokode Senior High Technical School. They submitted a 42-page report to Volta Regional Minister James Gunu. The report includes testimonies from 43 individuals.
Key findings highlight concerns about drug use and student indiscipline. The estimated damage from the incident is GH¢175,000.
On April 16, Deputy Volta Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Mariam Adzroe, spoke to Citi News. She said the report recommends disciplinary action against guilty students. It also suggests compensating affected persons and businesses after verifying their claims.
Adzroe emphasized the need for collaboration among all stakeholders. "The committee recommended that culprits be disciplined," she stated. She added that businesses should receive compensation if they provide proper documentation.
Some neighbors suffered property damage during the incident as well. Adzroe urged the regional minister to work with National Security on community needs, like drilling a borehole for Sokode SHS.
She stressed that everyone must support schools in addressing indiscipline issues. "The school cannot do it alone," she said. "We need everyone’s help to guide our children toward becoming responsible leaders."
