The Volta Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has temporarily closed Sokode Senior High Technical School following a violent clash between students and community members.

The altercation began when some students reportedly entered the Sokode community without permission and engaged in a confrontation, leading to an injury.

In retaliation, a group of residents stormed the school, triggering a larger fight involving over a thousand students.

Several people sustained injuries, and school property, including a staff member’s vehicle, was damaged.

Regional Minister James Gunu intervened, deploying security forces to restore order.

Following discussions with school and community leaders, authorities decided to close the school indefinitely, with students sent home.

Injured individuals are receiving treatment, though no fatalities have been recorded.
