Yakubu Issahaku Raid
Reports from The Chronicle say National Security operatives raided Yakubu Issahaku's home on April 5, 2025. He is the Aide-de-Camp to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Videos on social media show armed military personnel at his residence in Sapeiman, Accra. The videos depict these men forcing their way into the house. However, it is unclear how they entered the building since all doors were locked.
The Chronicle has seen still images showing damage to some doors in the house. Additionally, CCTV cameras were dismantled and rooms were left in disarray.
Issahaku, a police officer seconded to the former Vice President's office, was not home during the raid. A friend informed him via WhatsApp that about 30 masked soldiers had entered his property.
He claims the operatives ransacked his home and caused significant destruction. Damages included broken security doors and disconnected internet equipment. All rooms were searched without any explanation or legal justification.
Issahaku identified Superintendent of Police Sulemana Sule as the operation's leader. Sule is stationed at Jubilee House and operates from Blue Gate. Issahaku knows him personally, raising concerns about the raid's legality and motives.
This incident has raised serious questions about state security actions against individuals linked to the former government. Similar raids have targeted former officials like Ken Ofori-Atta and Dr. Ernest Addison under the Mahama government.
The Office of the Attorney General stated that these operations aim to ensure accountability among appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration.
