Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has clarified that the controversial removal of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers from the Tema Port was done under legitimate orders, though proper procedures were not followed.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue, Kumadoe rejected claims of weak port security, stressing that such movements require authorization and cannot happen randomly.
“Containers are not like phones you hide in your pocket,” he said, pointing instead to a deeper systemic problem—disregard for established rules.
Intelligence sources, he revealed, indicated that someone familiar with port operations bypassed procedures to facilitate the removal.
Kumadoe urged for a review of compliance mechanisms and accountability structures to prevent similar breaches, underscoring that the issue is not security failure but a deliberate flouting of rules by insiders.
