A 14-year-old boy has lost a court case against his parents after challenging their decision to move him from London to a boarding school in Ghana.
The High Court in London ruled that the parents acted out of “deep, obvious, and unconditional love” amid fears that their son was being groomed into gang culture in the UK.
The teenager claimed he had been “tricked” into traveling to Ghana under the pretense of visiting a sick relative and described his new life as “living in hell.”
However, the court heard evidence that the boy’s school had raised concerns about his potential involvement in criminal activities, observing him in expensive clothes and multiple mobile phones.
His father argued that they did not want him to become “another Black teenager stabbed on the streets of London.”
Despite the ruling, the boy remains unhappy in Ghana, with his lawyer, James Netto, revealing that more teens in similar situations are now seeking legal intervention to return to the UK.
