President John Dramani Mahama has called on the clergy to voice concerns about government shortcomings without fear of reprisal.
Addressing the Volta Region Christian Ecumenical Council of Churches, Mahama assured religious leaders of his administration's tolerance toward constructive criticism.
“I encourage you to raise your voices when things are not going well. My government is not intolerant, and we will not harass or threaten critics,” he stated.
Labeling the clergy as the "conscience of the nation," Mahama encouraged both the church and media to freely address governance issues, emphasizing their role in rectifying societal ills.
This stance contrasts with his frequent criticism of former President Akufo-Addo, whom he accused of suppressing dissent and lacking democratic temperament during his tenure.
