Speaker Bagbin refers Mahama’s Supreme Court nominees to Appointments Committee

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has referred President John Dramani Mahama's seven nominees for the Supreme Court to the Appointments Committee. This is in line with Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution.

On Tuesday, May 27, during a parliamentary session, Speaker Bagbin assigned the Judiciary Committee and the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee to assist the Appointments Committee. They will help vet the nominees.

A few months ago, President Mahama nominated these seven judges for the Supreme Court. The nominations were announced by the Office of the President and require Parliament's approval.

The nominees are:
- Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei
- Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh
- Justice Senyo Dzamefe
- Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo
- Justice Philip Bright Mensah
- Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo
- Justice Hafisata Amaleboba
