On Thursday, May 8, 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng met with the new Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Ghana Police Service.
This was their first official meeting. It provided a chance to build understanding and collaboration against corruption. Both parties discussed coordinated law enforcement efforts to tackle related offences.
The Special Prosecutor stressed the importance of a strong partnership with the Police Service. He noted that while the OSP has independent powers under Act 959, working together is essential for effective anti-corruption efforts.
Mr. Agyebeng highlighted the need to utilize the Police Service's nationwide presence. This would enhance the OSP's operational effectiveness and reach.
Inspector-General Yohuno welcomed this initiative. He expressed the Police Administration's commitment to support the OSP in its work. He acknowledged that fighting corruption requires joint action from both institutions.
Yohuno pledged to improve cooperation with the OSP, especially in intelligence sharing. This collaboration is vital for accountability and effective law enforcement across Ghana.
Members of the Police Management Board praised the OSP for its dedication to fighting corruption. They encouraged Mr. Agyebeng to continue his important work and expressed enthusiasm for ongoing inter-agency cooperation.
The Special Prosecutor was accompanied by Mr. Emmanuel Basintale, Director of Investigations at the OSP. The delegation was received by Inspector-General Yohuno and senior police officials, including COP Iddi Lansah Seidu and COP Ernest Owusu, among others.
