The Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, met with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) leadership. The meeting took place at the NCCE headquarters in Accra on April 3, 2025. They aimed to enhance collaboration on public education and corruption prevention.
Mr. Agyebeng highlighted the OSP's role in investigating and prosecuting corruption. He stressed that preventing corruption also requires proactive public education. “We must go beyond arrests and prosecutions,” he said.
He emphasized reshaping mindsets and promoting a culture of integrity. This is where the NCCE plays a crucial role, he noted. A sustained partnership is essential for educating the public, especially at grassroots levels.
NCCE Chairperson Ms. Kathleen Addy welcomed this collaboration. She pointed out the Commission’s ability to engage citizens nationwide. “We are committed to empowering Ghanaians to resist corruption,” she stated.
A key discussion point was addressing vote-buying before elections. Both institutions agreed that civic education on electoral integrity should be ongoing. They pledged to explore joint strategies for long-term educational initiatives.
Samuel Appiah Darko, Director for Strategy, Research, and Communications at OSP, attended the meeting as well. The NCCE delegation included Deputy Chairperson Samuel Asare Akuamoah and Deputy Chairperson Dr. Victor Brobbey, among other senior officials.
