Sports Committee must follow up to get allocation for capital expenditure - Annoh-Dompreh

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh supports concerns about Ghana's infrastructure. He believes it is at risk of deteriorating without dedicated maintenance funds.

On Thursday, March 27, former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwu raised alarms in Parliament. He warned that neglecting infrastructure could have serious consequences.

Nitiwu's concerns came after Parliament approved 65 million cedis for the Sports Ministry. However, there was no allocation for capital expenditure.

Annoh-Dompreh echoed Nitiwu's call for the Sports Committee to address this issue. He emphasized that significant investments have been made in infrastructure.

"It cannot be left until a tournament approaches," he stated. He praised the minister for timely interventions but stressed the need for regular maintenance.

"I agree with my senior colleague," Annoh-Dompreh continued. "We can't change the entire budget volume, but we can adjust allocations."

He urged the committee chairman and ranking members to take action on this matter. "We will approve the budget if you follow up on these changes," he concluded.
