Staff Level agreement with IMF proof that NDC lied about the economy – Awuku

Sammi Awuku, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, shared his views on social media. He believes the staff level agreement between Ghana and the IMF disproves false claims by the NDC.

Awuku thinks the government succeeded with the IMF due to tough decisions made by the previous administration. He urges the NDC to stop its propaganda, as numbers reveal a different reality.

He stated that after the 4th review meeting with the IMF, false allegations from the NDC have been put to rest. The NDC claimed that Ghana's economy was failing and that the IMF program had been breached. However, recent data tells a different story.

According to an IMF report, Ghana’s economy grew by 5.7% in 2024. This growth is significantly above the projected 4%. It shows not just recovery but resilience as well.

The mining and construction sectors thrived during this period. Gold exports increased, and remittances improved our external position. Currently, our international reserves stand at $8.9 billion, which is a high point in recent years.

The Staff Level Agreement from the 4th review reflects strategic decisions made under NPP leadership. While others may spread tales of crisis and mismanagement, facts support one truth: The NPP laid a strong foundation for Ghana’s recovery.

Awuku believes that with this groundwork, the NPP will return stronger in 2028.
