Stanbic Bank donates GH¢500k to 3 institutions in commitment to human capital development

Stanbic Bank Ghana has made significant donations to three key institutions. This is part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility and human capital development.

The total value of the donations exceeded GH¢500,000. This reinforces the bank’s belief that “Ghana is our home, we drive her growth.”

Harry Opoku Agyemang, Head of Personal Banking at Stanbic Bank, spoke after the donation. He emphasized the importance of human development for national growth.

Mr. Agyemang stated, “Driving Ghana’s growth isn’t only about financing businesses.” He added that investing in people is crucial for making the system work.

The bank donated GH¢100,000 to Mawuli Senior High School. This will support refurbishing the White Block, an important campus facility.

Additionally, Stanbic Bank provided 10 laptops and two 85-inch televisions to UHAS. They also donated high-definition video cameras and 20 tablets to enhance teaching.

A cash donation of GH¢141,000 went to the Ghana Police Training School. This aims to support training needs and capacity building for police personnel.

Mr. Agyemang explained that these donations reflect Stanbic Bank’s mission to empower institutions and individuals.

He said, “Whether it's health, security, or education, our goal is the same.” The aim is to build people who will contribute to Ghana's development.

He also noted that Stanbic Bank provides more than financial assistance. They facilitate knowledge-sharing through initiatives like the Financial Fitness Academy.

This program trains staff from beneficiary institutions on financial literacy and personal finance management.

Mr. Agyemang remarked that many earn good incomes but lack money management skills. The Financial Fitness Academy aims to change this situation.

“We don’t go there to market our services,” he said. “We go to educate and empower.”

Prof. Lydia Aziato, Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, expressed gratitude for Stanbic Bank’s support. She called on other private sector players to follow their example.

She highlighted challenges at the university, especially with inadequate hostel facilities for students.

“We appreciate Stanbic Bank's equipment and support,” she said. However, she noted ongoing infrastructural challenges affecting student accommodation.

Prof. Aziato welcomed private partnerships to help improve training quality at UHAS.
