Star Assurance, Hope for Little Lives deliver transformative outreach

Star Assurance Limited has teamed up with HOPE for Little Lives. This partnership aims to provide healthcare, education, and support to families in Sekyere Kumawu. It is part of Star Assurance's 40th anniversary celebration.

Volunteer surgeons from HOPE for Little Lives performed 40 free pediatric surgeries. These surgeries took place at the Sekyere Kumawu District Hospital. They provided life-changing medical care for children in the region.

This initiative shows Star Assurance's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It brought essential healthcare and support to the local community.

Dr. Maame Tekyiwa Botchway is the Founder and Executive Director of HOPE for Little Lives. She noted that the surgeries involved various conditions over three days. The NGO dreams of seeing all children live healthy and happy lives.

“We operated on 20 children with umbilical and inguinal hernias,” she said. “The next day, we operated on 16 more children with different conditions.” Some children had multiple issues requiring surgery on the final day.

The outreach also provided extensive support beyond surgical care. A total of 700 children received health screenings, while 380 got deworming medication.

To further assist local youth, they distributed 700 clothing items. Additionally, they gave out 1,800 packs of food, drinks, and snacks at the final event.

Star Assurance donated 400 personal grooming kits to Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School students. This promotes hygiene and self-care among young people in the community.

Justice Frank Offei is the Chief Financial Officer of Star Assurance Limited. He spoke at the three-day event about their commitment to making a difference.

“We are here to join HOPE for Little Lives on their Easter outreach,” he said. “Today we celebrate with an Easter party for kids in Kumawu.”

This initiative highlights Star Assurance's dedication to supporting HOPE for Little Lives. The insurance company has partnered with this NGO for three years through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

A unique aspect of their partnership involves donating GH₵5 from every Star Motor Third Party Xtra policy sold. This money directly supports HOPE for Little Lives' outreach activities.

Completing this major CSR activity marks a milestone in Star Assurance's anniversary celebrations. It emphasizes their commitment to positively impacting Ghanaians as a socially responsible corporate citizen.

A grateful parent expressed appreciation for Star Assurance and HOPE for Little Lives' help after their child's surgery.
