“State Capture is dead!” – Ablakwa declares

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has made a bold statement. He declared that State Capture is dead. This announcement followed the launch of a new Code of Conduct for government appointees.

Ablakwa expressed his happiness that President Mahama continues to support his fight against state capture. He believes this code will help protect state resources.

In a post on X, Ablakwa wrote about the new Code of Conduct. It prohibits appointees from buying state assets directly or indirectly. Violators will be fired and the assets retrieved.

State assets include lands, bungalows, hotels, cars, and forests. Ablakwa stated he is pleased their opposition efforts have not been abandoned. He also mentioned his Private Member’s Bill in Parliament aims to ban politically exposed persons from purchasing state assets.

President Mahama announced that all gifts over GHC20,000 must be declared by appointees. He emphasized that public funds cannot be used for gifts or hampers.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah warned appointees there will be no excuses for crossing the line. He stressed compliance with the new Code of Conduct is mandatory and breaches will not be tolerated.
