National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo over the selection of recipients for recent National State Awards.
Speaking at the 43rd-anniversary celebration of the 31st December Revolution, Nketiah expressed doubts about the credibility of the awards, alleging that some honorees were undeserving and questioning the transparency of the selection process.
He urged the establishment of legislation to regulate the conferral of state honors, advocating for a merit-based system that prioritizes fairness and transparency.
Nketiah warned against rewarding individuals linked to vigilante activities or corruption, emphasizing that such practices undermine the significance of state awards and send the wrong message to the youth.
