Security Analyst Adam Bonaa has attributed the frequent destruction of statues of former government leaders to a significant underestimation of the anger among Ghana’s youth.
Following the recent destruction of the bust of COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, the Executive Director of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), Bonaa stated that the previous government failed to recognize the deep-seated frustration felt by young Ghanaians, who face issues like unemployment, poor infrastructure, and rising living costs.
In an interview on GHOne TV, he criticized the decision to erect statues during the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, which disregarded public dissatisfaction.
Bonaa argued that these actions, combined with a lack of acknowledgment of the youth’s challenges, have fueled resentment, leading to acts of vandalism.
