Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced that all statutory funds for the first quarter of 2025 have been fully disbursed. He addressed Parliament on Tuesday, June 3. Dr. Forson noted this marks a significant improvement in government compliance.
He stated, “I’m pleased to report that under President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, transfers to all Statutory Funds have been made promptly and in full.” This is the first time in several months that this has happened.
The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) received GH¢2,710,227,947 for January, February, and March. This funding aims to address challenges with the Free Senior High School project.
Dr. Forson also mentioned that the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) received GH¢2,033,469,607 during the same period. He confirmed that all transfers due to the NHIF for these months have been paid in full.
These timely fund releases helped settle arrears owed to healthcare providers. They also supported key initiatives like the Free Primary Healthcare programme and MahamaCares.
The Finance Minister emphasized these efforts show the Mahama administration's commitment to efficient public financial management and social investment.
