Eric Nartey Yeboah, known as Chairman Dollar, is the Greater Accra Regional Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He has urged former party member Dr. Richard Amoako Baah to reconsider his decision to leave the NPP. Dr. Amoako Baah plans to form a new political movement.
In an interview with Classfmonline.com, Yeboah stressed that experienced members like Dr. Amoako Baah are vital for reforming the NPP. He called the decision to create a rival party unfortunate and misguided.
Yeboah stated, “Dr. Amoako Baah is a man of great intellect and experience.” He compared leaving the party during tough times to fleeing from armed robbers instead of fighting back.
Dr. Amoako Baah recently launched his new political movement, called the New Patriotic Front (NPF). At a press conference in Accra, he criticized current NPP leadership under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He claimed that arrogance and corruption have destroyed the NPP's original ideals. “It is no longer a party of principle and service,” he said.
Dr. Amoako Baah promised that the New Patriotic Front would offer Ghanaians an accountable and honest alternative focused on public service.
In response, Yeboah likened Dr. Amoako Baah’s departure to abandoning past heroes like Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia. He emphasized that these leaders worked within the party despite challenges.
“I urge Dr. Amoako Baah to reflect on our shared history,” Yeboah said. He believes that while the NPP has flaws, it needs its best minds to address issues rather than create divisions.
This public split has sparked discussions about internal democracy and leadership accountability in the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.
