Stay and fight the petition for your removal - MP urges Chief Justice

Baffour Awuah, the MP for Manhyia South, has spoken out. He urged Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to stand firm against a removal petition.

Awuah advised her not to give in to pressure. He emphasized the need for her to defend her position. Upholding her oath as head of the judiciary is crucial.

"She shouldn't jump; she has to stay and fight," he said. "It shouldn't be easy for anyone to go after a Chief Justice."

His comments come amid rising attention on the petition. This issue has sparked debate among legal and political circles.

The petition alleges misconduct and abuse of power against the Chief Justice. She was appointed by former President Akufo-Addo.

Now, three individuals have petitioned President Mahama for her removal. The President has given her 10 days to respond.

In response, she requested vital information from the President. This will help her prepare her case.

The petitions have been sent to the Council of State for consultation. This follows Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution.
