After eight years of legal battles, Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni is vindicated. He was the former CEO of COCOBOD.
To celebrate his acquittal, he attended Easter Sunday service at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Dormaa-Babianeha. He expressed gratitude to God for what he called a divine victory.
Dr. Opuni faced allegations of financial misconduct during his time at COCOBOD. However, the court ruled in his favor due to insufficient evidence from the state. This ruling ended a legal ordeal that began in 2017.
During the service, Dr. Opuni thanked God and his community for their support over the years. He pledged to renew his commitment to faith and public service.
He aims to contribute meaningfully to society in this new chapter of his life. Dr. Opuni has already started several community development projects focused on education.
He announced plans to build new school buildings in the Bono Region. One project will honor his late mother’s memory at her former school in Dormaa Ahenkro.
Dr. Opuni also warned against slander and false accusations that can ruin lives and reputations.
Reflecting on his time as COCOBOD CEO under John Mahama, he compared it with the current state under President Nana Akufo-Addo's administration. He believes the cocoa sector is now declining and urged citizens to assess its condition independently.
With legal issues resolved and faith renewed, Dr. Opuni looks forward to serving God and the people of Ghana.
